A Fear Based Life

A Fear Based Life
No one chooses to live with fear and worry but we all know someone that suffers with these symptoms. For some of us, we don't understand why they don't just change their mind and be happy. It is not that easy. Someone with fear, anxiety and depression is over come with a feeling of dread that is unmanageable. Why is this happening? Does any one ask this before prescribing mood altering drugs? Generally speaking their brain is out of balance.

Anxiety and Depression are felt in the emotional part of the brain called the Amygdala. It is located deep in the temporal lobes of the brain. The whole system is called the Limbic System. There are many causes of anxiety and depression A chemical imbalance is is not the only one, or the most common. Things like childhood trauma, concussion, emotional traumatic events, severe life style changes, high fever and illness and an inflammatory diet, these are just a few causes. All of these things can cause a brain to have altered electrical signals. But the fact remains, the brain is out of balance and not regulating properly.

The whole brain needs to work together for harmonious function. Just like a family, grandparents, parents and children all need to work together for a functional household. When someone is not doing their part or worse yet, being disruptive, action needs to be taken. When part of your brain is not firing at the appropriate frequencies we get symptoms and cannot self regulate . Let's get all parts working together for harmonious brain function and feeling good.

With the help of Neurofeedback and lifestyle factors it is possible to regulate parts of the brain to calm down, or ramp up, depending on which frequencies it is firing. There are a number of scientific studies proving that regulating and teaching the Limbic System to reset can significantly control the symptoms of fear, worry and depression. Helping to alleviate those feelings of being out of control and not living life to the full

Neurofeedback is a technology and treatment method that we offer in our office. It is painless, drug free and actually pleasant therapy that has been proven to be effective with our patients. We are changing lives and promoting harmony in families everyday. I'd love to talk to you about how you can learn more and change your life.

Please leave a comment telling me what symptoms you have that neurofeedback can help.

Losing Your Memory, Are You Sleeping?

Sleep, it's so important for a lot of things but studies have shown it is vital for your memory and brain health. A study in 2013 discusses sleeps role in memory. It is during sleep that you regenerate your body as well as your brain both physically and emotionally. During sleep you get rid of all the waste products and neurotoxins that build up, eliminating Beta Amyloid plaques that are implicated in  Alzheimer's Disease. April Showers, Vitamin D and Depression.

April Showers, Right? What About Vitamin D and Depression? It's raining again and I'm still loving it. Wells are filling, reservoirs are filling, and the flowers are going to be stunning. This year California is getting record rainfall. According to California's water resources index, 90 inches so far in the Sierra Nevadas. Rainfall is great but that means it has to rain and that means people don't get out in the sun and get their vitamin D. Vitamin D is also called Cholecalciferol. You get Vitamin D from the sun. Your skin converts the ultra violet rays to Vitamin D. I know I haven't been outside with this rain. The sun only peeks through the clouds once in a while. The best time to expose yourself to sunlight is at 12 noon for half an hour as much skin as possible to the sun, ideally naked. A lot of people have trouble with that conversion. If you always wear sunscreen, have darker skin or never go in the sun, are pregnant or obese you may be deficient. Vit
